Family of man killed on I-94 asks for community’s help
Statement on Behalf of the Family of Jay Tichelaar
May 24, 2017
This past Monday, May 22, 2017, around 5:10 p.m., Jay Tichelaar, age 51, of Brookfield, Wisconsin, was a random victim of negligence.
While driving eastbound on I-94, just east of Johnson Creek, Wisconsin, a piece of a semi-tractor trailer’s braking system disconnected from the truck and went through the windshield of Mr. Tichelaar’s Honda CRV killing him. The semi-tractor trailer did not stop and Wisconsin State Patrol continues to investigate.
Attorney Frank T. Pasternak of Pasternak & Zirgibel, S.C. who represents the Tichelaar family stated:
“The family of Mr. Tichelaar is asking the community for help in identifying the semi-tractor trailer involved in this case. This case involves a random death that did not have to happen. All of us need to be protected from trucking companies that fail to care for their vehicles. The safety of our highways depends on accountability and therefore, it is important to determine the root cause of this crash in order to deter future neglect.”
Anyone with possible information relating to the semi-tractor trailer is asked to immediately contact either the Wisconsin State Patrol in DeForest at (608) 846-8500 or Attorney Frank T. Pasternak of Pasternak & Zirgibel, S.C., injurywisconsin.com, at (262) 785-0802.
